The next version of Ubuntu, Jaunty Jackalope (9.04) has a problem with drivers for most ATI cards. The problem seems to lie in the compatibility with the new version of XServer, version 1.6, with the driver current owner.

So far it has prioritized wishlist so you do not think that since Ubuntu is going to give short-term solution. According to the developers of Ubuntu is ATI which is responsible to update the driver and now propose using the free driver despite not available graphics acceleration.

The wording of Phoronix has done a great story, as usual availing the phoronix-test-suite, different versions of video drivers for Nvidia cards that can be found available. It explains a bit what gives us each version and then we can see a battery of tests which although initially promised 180 version later see that not everything that glitters is gold.

Apparently, the folks at Microsoft is making a special effort to ensure that its new operating system Windows 7 will not suffer the problems of Vista when you install any hardware that you imagine. In fact you are trying to reach 0% margin of error in the installation of any device. Funny how Windows Vista has serious problems especially when working with printers, or so it appears from the information provided by Microsoft itself:
