A bug discovered in the development version of the next Ubuntu has shown that some applications may have compatibility problems with the ext4 filesystem.

The problem occurs in the system disk write configuration files of applications. In ext3 with journaling mode and the option "data = ordered" these files are written to disk every 5 seconds so any changes made in the configuration files are written practice on the disc without problems.

If you're legal, use Open Office

"Linex copy is legal" is a slogan that I use at the time the Board of Extremadura to promote its distribution and how good it could estrapolar to Open Office in the day. Gloger is the gerund, I found this article on UbuntuArte . Take a look that has no waste

"A promotional message from OpenOffice, cites that 35% of software worldwide is pirated or illegal, asks us if our software is legal and clearly described Microsoft's strategy.

"After years of unofficially tolerating piracy as a means of securing control of the market, Microsoft is now carrying out an offensive to ensure that copies of their software is legitimate:

* Just bought AssetMetrix, a software company specialized in detecting what programs have installed on our PCs
* You are using the internet to install screening software copies of MS-Office on the PCs of users.
* Worldwide, the Business Software Alliance is organizing efforts to prosecute those who violate their conditions - for example in the UK offers great financial rewards to any informant who reports to companies using pirated software.
* Even Microsoft admits that customers have difficulty understanding the complexities of software licensing - it's easy to accidentally break their conditions. "
Keep in mind that OpenOffice is a perfectly viable alternative, and also copies are legal and will not cost you money. "

Adobe just released an update to versions 9 and 10 of its Flash player that fixes a number of problems important enough so everyone should update the software, and is available for Linux, Solaris, OS X and Windows. This affects almost everybody, because Flash Player is installed on 98% percent of the world's computers. It does not have the latest version, a computer can become infected by simply viewing a web page.

To determine the version of Flash Player that we installed, we get to this page to test Adobe Flash:

http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/

If you are running version 9, Version 9.0.151.0 (9.0.152.0 for Linux) and previous errors. The secure version is 9.0.159.0. If you are running version 10, Version 10.0.12.36 (10.0.15.3 Linux) and previous errors. Version 10.0.22.87 is safe. Source .

Joliclouud is a new operating system based on GNU / Linux designed for ultraportable computers. Those who dismiss this alternative and no excuse, since it has a user interface optimized for the screen so small (some 6 ").

It is created by Tariq Krim no doubt seems very interesting and if you have the speed that is supposed to take, with the rise of netbooks will be a guaranteed success.

They also highlight the icons of the applications, as in most operating systems designed for notebooks stand out for their large size to make life easier for users of some computers that typically have very small screens.

It is no coincidence ... the British army infected.

Relatively recently, posteabamos news regarding an alleged operating system derived from the British Navy used Windows XP. Although at the time we watched with some disbelief the news, now we see another that makes us believe a little more at first. Apparently a virus has invaded the British fleet, extending out of control so that according to The Inquirer have had to make ordinary telephone communications with the-mill. According to reports from the Government concerned the weapons and navigation systems are not affected.

We assume that the news be taken with caution but not think that is a joke. Here is the link to the original story to be lost meaning the child (detail) as possible:

Ubuntu 9.04 will use ext4 at the facility.

Ubuntu no longer news, this time we revel in the inclusion of the ext4 file system in its next release. A review of successful ext3 and that according to early benchmarks, we can see, will bring improvements in the performance of our system in terms of disk usage. For now ext4 reviews we have seen, but have not been many, give this new system a distinct advantage over their competitors and especially on ext3 already had his time.

Mandriva one 2009 vs Asus eee pc

After spending some time testing distributions is best suited to my eee pc , concludes that it would be best to leave Ubuntu eee and wait for the official Ubuntu , but browsing I found a thread on which the boys had Mandriva with One 2009 claimed that its distribution could read the entire hardware of a eee pc, without having to make any changes and still more in LiveCD mode, so tired of messing in Debian and Ubuntu 8.10 I decided to test it and the bottom line is more than satisfactory because it detects all of the first (including wifi), runs fast and gives no problems installing, if not set at this v ideo .

Those of you with an Asus eee pc and want a distribution that is stable, nimble, with all drivers and most used plugins, you have to try Mandriva Linux One 2009.

Download Mandriva One 2009 .
