MySQL founder distrust Oracle
Michael Widenius, founder of MySQL, has recently stated that his biggest and most common was Oracle rival MySQL AB when he ran. Such statements fuel the reluctance of the European Commission to merge Oracle - Sun, mainly caused by the potential competition problems.
Moreover, the new draft Michael Wideniu, the database MariaDB, has entered beta status . MariaDB is a branch from the engine that uses MySQL Maria. It is presented as a community-based development as an alternative to MySQL.
