After a year and a half from NetBSD 4, version 5 comes with a number of developments at all levels. The development team claims that it has taken a big step in when performance and scalability on SMP and multicore systems. On the other hand there are improvements in the file system, memory management, power control, etc..

At launch there have been supporting 42 hardware architectures, i386 and amd64 support for Xen 3.3.

Releases Preliminary OpenBSD, NetBSD and Jibbed

This week we have released three previous versions of BSD distributions: OpenBSD, NetBSD and Jibbed.

He has hung the sign of OpenBSD 4.5 Beta , which freezes the development of new features, concentrating from now on for errors.

NetBSD People presented the second release candidate NetBSD 5.0 , with numerous changes since RC1. They say we'll see at least RC3 before the final release.

Jibbed , liveCD based on development builds of NetBSD 5, published its first CR. As new autoconfiguration for graphics and network cards, and conversion to amd64.

Jibbed work on computers to equip at least one i686 and 128 MB of RAM.

Jibber is a system based on NetBSD LiveCD with Xfce as the desktop. Based on NetBSD code 5 (still in development) hang on the internet Jibbed 5 Beta , in the form of. iso 400 megs optimized for i686 (will require at least 128 megs of RAM).
