From the February 24 PC-BSD 8.2 is still called Hubble and comes with some minor changes even a gentleman BSD UNIX system:

  • KDE 4.5.5
  • FreeBSD 8.2 basis
  • Configuration Assistant display properties renovated
  • Improvements to the connection manager wifi
  • Support Xen HVM
  • ZFS version 15
  • GNOME 2.32.1

FreeBSD 8.1 beta1

This draft is expected in i386 for the May 28 and unless the release would cause delays on 9 July (calculase RC1 for June 11 and RC2 for 25). While there is much information available about new features, would very shortly after the desktop version of iXsystems better known as PC BSD 8.1 and some preliminary changes that have occurred in the same state: update to KDE 4.4.3, bug fixes in pc-sysinstall, new options in the Software Manager, added functionality in ZFS, among others pending. Just by watching it proving there are some snapshots of May available . There are also in FreeBSD 9.0 current for those who are encouraged to deal with more problems than usual PC-BSD.

KDE SDK 4.2.1, Wine 1.1.6 PBI, PBI Gimp 2.6.5, OpenOffice 2.4.2 PBI Opera 9.63 PBI, VLC 0.9.8a PBI FreeBSD Ports Tree (the PCBSD ports are now installed to / PCBSD / local) and FreeBSD System Source software versions are optional on DVD as reported by iXsystems.

There are also a similar development in PC-BSD , Novell reimplement the concept client / server (Linux Terminal Server Project GNU) to have reduced hardware operating system performance to the NetWare network. Innovation happens that an image is done with KIWI . Other distributions imitate this good initiative.

Faster than my updates to PCBSD is the development of BSD Unix FreeDesktop more "pretty" and easy when installing software, now based on FreeBSD 7.1-Stable and adding Xorg 7.4 (headaches for Kris Moore and colleagues) with KDE 4.2. I guess you already have full support in Spanish from the preferred windowmanager Linus Benedict Torvalds.

VirtualBSD offers a 7.1-RELEASE FreeBSD configured with XFCE encapsulated in VMWare, its holder vdmk Firefox 3.0.5, OpenOffice.org 3.0, GIMP 2.6.4, Samba 3.0.34, VLC 0.9.8a, CUPS 1.3.9 and Transmission 1.42 between other applications. For those who resist PC-BSD 7.0.2 and do not dare to install a real FreeBerkeleySoftwareDistribution.

PC-BSD 7.0.1 Released

Has finally been released operating system PC-BSD 7.0.1, based on the OS - FreeBSD 7.0 Fibonacci Edition also called in this update have been fixed some bugs and improved the whole system. Among the major changes is the most awaited KDE 4.1.2 desktop which incidentally is quite spectacular.

Other enhancements include NTFS write support, Adobe Flash 9, and improvements in WiFi wireless networks, in addition to the upgrade tool (from a PC-BSD 7.0).

I forgot we also have PC-BSD version 7.0.1 64-bit (amd64) and you can download along with the 32 bits from here: http://www.pcbsd.org/content/view/21/11/

Those of you used to install programs with a click and want to try a first cousin of the block system, try PC-BSD, and give it a try.
