Security Update for Adobe Flash Player
Filed under: Linux , Mac , Software , Windows , operating systems
Adobe just released an update to versions 9 and 10 of its Flash player that fixes a number of problems important enough so everyone should update the software, and is available for Linux, Solaris, OS X and Windows. This affects almost everybody, because Flash Player is installed on 98% percent of the world's computers. It does not have the latest version, a computer can become infected by simply viewing a web page.
To determine the version of Flash Player that we installed, we get to this page to test Adobe Flash:

Mac OS 10 Leopard will have a further upgrade
Since the last version published on December 15 everyone expects that Snow Leopard is currently in build 10A261, but well ahead of summer will allow progress to OS X 10.5.7, minor security updates and synchronization with mobile devices so require. The Snow Leopard will then maximum use of Intel multicore and GPU as ATI Radeon HD 4850 that border the stream-teraflop with their processors.
How to write your virus for Linux in 5 easy steps.
This is the headline which I am in http://www.geekzone.co.nz/foobar/6229
As discussed in the web that mention, has always been said that Linux and Unix systems are extremely safe. Sim, however, that as time passes these systems are gaining users, and these programs are increasingly using more complex and more "automatic / comfortable", causes the lack of knowledge, routine use or lack of foresight to make that our system is so robust, at least internally, it becomes a drain. In the article that I have left describes five steps to create a type of software that is capable of spreading by almost any Linux and Unix with Gnome and / or KDE and cause damage that can be considered quite simply with a little social engineering. This article could easily open several discussions but particularly I think the more necessary to talk about would be the minimum training that anyone should have when using a computer, in the end all we have learned also to drive?
KDE 4.2 final available for download.
Named "The Answer" has seen the light of a few hours ago the final version of KDE 4.2. KDE developers believe they have reached a point where it has regained much of the functionality and stability that was lost in the first versions of the branch 4. We can test the livecd in http://kde.org/mirrors/ and the source code, compile it ourselves if we are even ready to install binary packages depending on your distribution. Congratulations to all who make it possible for such important projects like KDE.
Russia may have an operating system "national" to compete with Windows
This is the headline I see in www.20minutos.es. Apparently Russian President Vladimir Putin wants the government of his country does not lose independence on issues like security and software. Russia intend on creating an operating system that meets their own national needs. Also from the telecommunications ministry is making an effort to ensure that all Russian schools use free software in 2009. Without doubt a great challenge. Seem difficult times for Microsoft in Russia.
Mandriva one 2009 vs Asus eee pc

After spending some time testing distributions is best suited to my eee pc , concludes that it would be best to leave Ubuntu eee and wait for the official Ubuntu , but browsing I found a thread on which the boys had Mandriva with One 2009 claimed that its distribution could read all the hardware of a eee pc, without having to make any changes and still more in LiveCD mode, so tired of messing in Debian and Ubuntu 8.10 I decided to test it and the bottom line is more than satisfactory because it detects all of the first (including wifi), runs fast and gives no problems installing, if not set at this v ideo .
Those of you with an Asus eee pc and want a distribution that is stable, nimble, with all drivers and most used plugins, you have to try Mandriva Linux One 2009.
This is the first 512 GB SSD
The Japanese manufacturer Toshiba has announced it will present an SSD with a capacity of 512 GB at the festival CES to be held in January 2009.

This size will be achieved thanks to the 43nm manufacturing technology, which allows the production of memory chips smaller than current techniques. The chips are based on MLC flash and used in the full range of Toshiba SSDs in both 2.5 "and in the 1.8" (capacities go from 64 to 512 GB).
Toshiba announces a life of more than 100 years (one million hours of use) and a data transfer rate 200 MB / s write and 240 MB / s in reading.
It will go on sale in mid-2009. Toshiba expects that a quarter of all laptops sold in the years 2012 SSDs have.
