Now, taking into account this facelift, the folks at Microsoft seem to come with something big and code-named-user: admin, password: admin, laughter-is Windows 8.

It appears that an employee of the firm, in an MSDN blog, left unchecked leakear some excitement in an article that was deleted shortly after. According to the employee said: "Windows 8 will be something completely different to what we're used to seeing in Windows". Read more

Now that the build 7600 although it is missing a quarter ReadyToManufacture until his departure for the October 22, and now that Torvalds makes it clear that hatred of Microsoft is a disease that is cured with tribal vaccine open-mindedness as the open source also has selfish engines (Case that are unable to recognize FSF), the positive statements regarding the 20k lines GPL LinuxIC from Redmond to interoperate better with Linux from the Hyper-V in Windows Server 2008 R2 , statements that omit the GPLv2 with which Linus agrees not allow binary blend open source and proprietary closed. Now there is something to stand out in Windows 7: Device Stage (opening where the innovation is desirable) is a peripheral interface scenario where the most we can manipulate visual and intuitive mobile devices, camcorders and digital videofilmadoras , mp3, mp4 and mp5, soon to leave the ZuneHD and e-readers like the Amazon Kindle. It promised extensive support for current devices and in that sense it forces producers to develop future firmware to interact effectively with this section of Windows 7 that should be followed by Linux, PC-BSD or OpenSolaris (if manufacturers open the code to be ported to these systems, of course).

A few days ago Mark Shuttleworth (Canonical visible head) commented that Windows 7 is another opportunity for Linux. For new users it will not be as interested in being able to use Microsoft Office and can connect to a social network [...] the business model is changing.

Although so far the feedback on Windows 7 as shown by better product than Vista, today has published a survey about the intentions of the companies with the upcoming Microsoft operating system, shows that the adoption of Windows 7 will be slow.

According to data from 1100 companies, 17% will adopt during the first year, 42% plans to wait at least one year and 24% expect at least two before switching. The bad experiences with Vista seem to blame for this mistrust.

Can we expect a better reception to Windows 7 than Vista?

Despite the "no success" of Vista, Linux adoption is still very limited, focusing more on the growth of MacOS. Will the same with Windows 7?

17% of respondents did not answer about any plan to upgrade to Windows 7. You are looking for alternatives to Windows?

If they improve this point will be something for Windows 7 as it is one of the issues that has been most criticized in Vista.

Reduced version of Windows 7 for netbooks?

We learned from Slashdot that Microsoft intends to create a cropped version of Windows 7 for the "less powerful netbooks" that would only have 3 applications open simultaneously. We do not know if it's a version with some different requirements, resource consumption than the other versions provide, or if there will be much price difference with the version without limitation. According to a study by the company, the "normal" users of their systems has opened an average of 2 applications at once, so the limit of three is reasonable for them.
