In the Phoronix website we can find a performance comparison between systems that may be operating most widely used alternative to Windows today. There have been a considerable battery of tests in various forms, from disk performance, to build up graphic evidence. It seems curious to see how in some tests on OSX takes some advantage over Ubuntu.

Asks a question I would not encourage air to distort the news or the results: you do not think that Linux in general lines today could yield much more than it already had a few drivers give up if the quality of which we can enjoy for Windows or Mac? Do not forget that the Mac hardware configurations are much more RESTRICTED and therefore easier to develop and improve for developers of OSX?

Here you can find the proof in full:

  2. I've read the comparison and ... a little is expected of both: Mac OS X is a tad more optimized to the end user, obtaining better results in gaming performance, while Linux was intended to be used in tasks " Everyday Use "and" systems "and so understanding and so comes off better.

  4. Although the graphics drivers of both operating systems are written by Intel, do not rule out that are more optimized for the OSX platform. We'll have to wait for Linux 2.6.28 to find new improvements implemented by the people of Intel.

I do not think that's what incinuas, but I notice a hint of that when "Linux wins" Linux is goodness, and when "Linux loses" is that there is a problem for drivers. I mean with some frequency surgical reality because the network is.
Well, Apple did not start making operating systems today, and has very good engineers.

  6. Let's see, do not get me wrong. I am not partisan or brand or operating systems, choose and use at any time what I need and want. And above all we must be realistic. The people at Apple, which I respect as everyone has a great operating system, and will be all good as you want, but what is undeniable is to get a hardware "X" gives a very large specific advantage when polishing drivers, when to minimize errors and optimize things. I'd like to see OSX running on any combination of hardware you can find at any computer store. I'm not saying it will not work, I say things that just is not so expensive. All this without a lot of software that is made for OSX is paid software and expensive, nothing comparable to third-party applications for Linux made by some students on the weekends. You know full well that many, many Linux drivers have had to reverse engineer due to the policies and systems of operation of companies that take the lead, and this causes there are many bugs, many things erratic performances and yields lower than they should be. To say that directly hardware does not work. Apple's many things you've seen not work on a Mac? How many devices do not work in Linux yet? That's what I mean, there is a large deficit of drivers and construction quality in others, although there are many people and companies that are making an effort that is also laudable. Whether street Ubuntu wins this test as if it would continue reviewing the same as you commented.
    a greeting.

  8. To which I referred Chuko is infrequently seen some "religious" in the areas of operating systems. I see that is not your case.

It is clear that when the hardware manufacturer provides software also things work better. But not only Apple hardware, also equipment that the manufacturer installed Windows or Linux (appropriately modified).

Really make a valid comparison is complicated because some hardware should be sought where all operating systems are certified. It is not hard to find equipment certified for Windows and Linux, but obviously only certifies Apple OSX on their computers.

In any case, as they say in the Web source, we can have a decent comparative with the next version of Linux 2.6.28 where people added Intel's best drivers for their chips.

  10. The Regilio had in the past, when you have a vision as wide of how things work, but over the years I think you will de-radicalized. I totally agree with everything you mention.
