Images Gentoo Weekly
In mid 2008 it became apparent lack of direction that the Gentoo project suffered in recent times. The arrival of the former founder of the new senior management and distribution was a return to the bases of distribution.
It was back to give users of Gentoo traditions what they wanted, powered by minimal installation CD and stage3. To do this the team that prepared the launch has been working on a system to create ISO images and weekly stage3 automatically.
The system became operational in December 2008 for x86 and amd64 only, and have been gradually adding new architectures. Today images are generated automatically for x86, amd64, alpha, arm, ia64 and sparc.

Look I've always freaked Gentoo, I've used for years. There has been a dip behind impressive, I thought it would go to the trash but knowing that the leadership has returned to its roots makes me happy. Anyway today I think as Gentoo does not provide a distribution list to be used without compiling anything, not going to get back in the top of DistroWatch as he was old. No matter how powerful is the loss of time compiling stuff is not worth the performance you're going to get. I do not think that Debian is much slower than Gentoo.
For Chuko no, I do not think one ought to be slower than a gentoo, at least significantly
In addition you can also compile debian whatever you want (apt-src and / or apt-build) will not be as comfortable or as polished as it emerges, but that parts of the system that really worth optimizing are few, the rest spending power is uselessly.
I always seem to create a flame, but it is not xD
For anything that is different from others opine not have to be a source of flames or misinterpretations, for the colors and tastes are as whatever one thinks of opinion with logical reasoning and education do not think anyone will be to look bad or the beginning of the typical conversations where everyone bream (fairly common practice) tries to convince others that theirs is the best and they should change the alien to itself.
I do not understand, and try to never practice the Talibanism to any brand or company, it seems ridiculous, and generally escape from the radical, I think not only a useless way of evolution, but that is an involution.
And after this ladrillón only know that I agree with you (and you go 2 times
: D), the optimization can be achieved with Gentoo is in specific areas such as multimedia programs or kernels.
In a base system with tools like "ls" or "htop" no optimization possible.
But hey, Gentoo was somewhat aware of it and thus offers the stage3 long.
In any case, and although Debian is terrific feeling much more cheerful and comfortable Gentoo console when doing many operations, the same is because I am more familiar with it, or is just that Gentoo developers try there comfortable and modern tools.
I am using gentoo 64 bits. Evidentemete optimizations is not for this advantage disappears with this architecture. I've never really been a big fan, but I appreciate the control I have over the system and packages it gives me.
Regarding the news, because I think it's a great move by gentoo.
I think they were losing users even among more traditional, which is the bane to any distribution.
I think that systems like Debian, Gentoo, Arch or Slackware attract a certain class of users, and it is essential that these users are not ignored.
If Gentoo users want to search "other categories" no problem, but I think neglecting the solid base of fans is what has led him to his current situation.
Cool! I am new to gentoo, and although I had several headaches in the installation, kernel panics and so on, I think a great distribution. It's good a new look:)
