Eighteen months after December 2009 Torvalds has opted for the next branch of the Linux kernel 3.0 that would be completed by the end of August 2011. Just in time for the anniversary No. 20 of GNU-Linux, happy birthday as a substitute for the eternal Hurd/L4.
