If you're legal, use Open Office
"This copy Linex Legal" is a slogan I use in his day the Junta de Extremadura to promote circulation and that could well be estrapolar to Open Office today. Gloger is gerund, I found this article on UbuntuArte . Take a look that is priceless
"A promotional message from OpenOffice, cites that 35% of software in the world are pirated or illegal, we asked whether our software is legal and clearly described Microsoft's strategy.
"After years of unofficially tolerating piracy as a means of securing control of the market, Microsoft is now conducting an offensive to ensure that copies of their software is legitimate:
* Just buy AssetMetrix, a software company specializing in detecting what programs we have installed in our PCs
* You are using the internet to install detection software copies of MS-Office on users' PCs.
* Throughout the world, the Business Software Alliance is organizing efforts to prosecute those who violate their conditions - for example in the UK offers great financial rewards to any informer who reports to companies that use pirated software.
* Microsoft itself admits that clients have difficulty understanding the complexities of software licensing - it's easy to accidentally break their conditions. "
Note that OpenOffice is a perfectly viable alternative, and further copies are legal and will not cost you money. "

OpenOffice does not please!
Use Lyx or LaTeX editor with some help and be happy.
99% of my experiences with OO.org have been bad, as he targets a little cane bad, bad team-working ... I do not understand the fear that people have to latex, has anyone ever made a presentaciónn with latex-beamer?
I do not know, personally I find it more comfortable and the result is much more professional.
Anyway talking about an office suite that I personally see it more stable, despite being based on OpenOffice, IBM's Symphony.
It seems to me an excellent choice to ignore the Microsoft suite. It clearly has some problems to overcome but it is certainly a very complete suite.
Iago say that OpenOffice is more than Writer or Impress, one of the programs that I have used lately is Calc and so far I'm getting good results. Latex will surely have more flexibility with editing software OpenOffice, but it is equally true that the learning curve is higher. Alternatively ofiicina I have a feeling that does not seem feasible in the short term. By the way it should be noted that Symphony is not free software, despite being free.
I have one thing clear, I hope Microsoft is able to fight piracy, and many people begin to understand the value of free software. Although I have doubts that interest them. We'll see ...
A salute to Tod-OS.
I usually throw Lyx whenever I can, I see clear advantages in using lyx / latex to work in teams. What happens is that most people prefer to use an editor where you see exactly how it will be a text.
If I have to use a WYSIWYG normally use OpenOffice, but the truth is that it is the program of my love (I liked the wordperfect). The truth is that bugged me OO automatic aid, the term disabling.
I have to say that the learning curve with latex does not seem higher than with OO.org, in 99% of the documents that make mortals just use a template of the thousands that are on the internet and learn four things. If you add to it using an editor like Kile, and I tell you.
And team work ... anyway ... I tremble still using svn with OO.org, locking and unlocking, and praying that there was no conflict (as there is no merge possible: D).
If you think of are legal, using Open Office?
